Addiction treatment for women
Addiction develops and progresses differently in women — and so do the barriers to getting help. Our women's program meets those realities with compassion.
Compassionate care for women
Addiction is chronic and progressive, and it does not discriminate. It is never too late to get sober — and our women's drug and alcohol program combines traditional and alternative therapies in a safe, supportive environment.
We recognize that women face unique physiological realities and unique barriers, especially around caretaking and motherhood.
How addiction affects women differently
Women are just as likely as men to develop a substance use disorder, and may be more susceptible to cravings and relapse. Research from NIDA shows shorter use histories can lead to faster progression across cocaine, opioids, marijuana, and alcohol.
Higher body-fat content can mean faster effects from less alcohol, alongside elevated risks of fertility problems, diabetes, and cardiovascular issues.
Barriers to treatment for women
Women often face added obstacles: finances, access, and denial, plus extra shame and guilt — particularly for mothers and pregnant or breastfeeding women. The lack or cost of child care can make stepping away feel impossible.
We help women navigate these barriers so that getting well becomes achievable, not out of reach.
The benefits of a women's program
Women-only groups create validation and safety, reducing isolation and making it easier to open up. Combined with integrated dual-diagnosis care, this gives women the foundation for lasting recovery.
Our programs
Every population we serve has access to our full continuum of care.
What people say about Ocean Coast
Real reviews from clients, alumni, and the families who trusted us with their loved ones.
“I was a client in 2023 and this treatment center was the beginning of my new life. I am forever grateful Ocean Coast Recovery. I have a choices now, before Ocean Coast, my only choice was my addiction. I truly believe without the help of this facility and the hardworking and very patient employees, I would not have the beautiful free life I have now. Thank you Ocean Coast for being there for me at my worst and continuing to be a resource that supports me on my sober journey.”
