There is no denying that there is a significant presence of substance misuse and abuse among young adults. There was a 61% increase in the use of drugs among 8th graders between 2016 and 2020. Over half of high school seniors have drunk alcohol, and approximately 50% of teens have abused drugs.
The National Center for Drug Abuse Statistics shared that alcohol is the most commonly abused substance among young adults. Approximately 1.19 million 12-17-year-olds reported binge drinking in the past month, while 11.72 million individuals between the ages of 18 and 25 reported the same behavior.
